Dr Michael Chilov & Dr Adrian Fung present at RANCZO
Dr Michael Chilov and Dr Adrian Fung have presented lectures at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists’ (RANZCOs’) 46th Annual Scientific Congress in Brisbane. Held between 22-26 November 2014, this is the largest national ophthalmology meeting on the annual calendar.
On Saturday Dr Chilov presented an interesting case of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitor induced subretinal fluid. This is a very new finding that has only recently been described in the literature. MEK inhibitors are new chemotherapy agents used to treat cancer, and in some cases can affect vision by causing a picture similar to central serous chorioretinopathy.
On Sunday Dr Fung was invited to participate in the oncology symposium where he presented cases on choroidal osteoma (a rare tumour where there is bone deposition in the choroid) and the use of photodynamic therapy to treat choroidal metastases. On Tuesday he will present new phenotypic and genotypic findings on Autosomal Recessive Bestrophinopathy.
